The convertible sped through the thick fog, blurring the surrounding homes and the faces of Nancy's friends into indistinct shapes. In the disorienting mist, Nancy suddenly noticed a large tree looming directly ahead, threatening a disastrous collision. Inside the car, terrified cries were drowned out by the madness, unheard by any potential onlookers. “I take back every bit of energy I ever gave you. You’re nothing, you’re shit. You’re nothing, you’re shit. You’re nothing, you’re shit!.” Nancy desperately chanted the frantic mantra, her hands gripping anything within reach as she fought to regain control of the vehicle—a task Glen had declared impossible just minutes earlier. It was chillingly clear that they were no longer in control of their dreams once again; they were unwitting passengers on a road trip to hell, with Freddy himself seemingly at the wheel, guiding them toward a painful end. "You're not real. This whole thing is just a dream. So get lost!" She exclaimed, clawing at the window, yanking at the door handle, and pressing against the car's ceiling. Time seemed distorted in the dream, but there would always be an end. As the car finally collided with the tree with a deafening crunch, shards of glass flew past her. She tried to shield Glen by throwing herself over him upon impact, knowing it was likely futile at this point, yet she held him tightly. Through the mirror, she saw Rod doing the same for Tina. "Oh, Tina!" Nancy cried out, only to find herself staring not into her boyfriend's eyes, but into her father's stern gaze as red and blue lights flickered across her worn face. Gradually, as night descended once more, she became aware of Mrs. Lantz across the street, peering out with tear-filled eyes and a trembling hand pressed against her mouth. Suddenly breaking free from her father's protective embrace, Nancy dashed past the police, calling out her departed boyfriend's name. Her appearance was nothing short of distraught, with disheveled hair jutting out in all directions, and dark circles beneath her eyes verging on a deep purple hue. She was the perfect picture of delusion. "Glen! I'm here! Krueger’s dead! I got him!" Nancy shouted, her words cut short as law enforcement officers swiftly apprehended her before she could reach the other side, her feet skimming against the chilly concrete. "Let go of me! Mother! Mother!" Nancy strained to glance behind her, resisting their aggressive maneuvers, expecting her mother to emerge from the house and intervene against these fools at any moment. However, when she failed to appear, Nancy locked eyes with her father, her neck taut and her limbs aching as she struggled against their hold. "Dad! You saw what he did. Tell them! You were just there," Nancy demanded, her certainty tinged with a painful intensity that struck all witnesses, incredulous at the uncertainty etched on his face. It was even more disheartening when he chose to speak anything but the truth. Following the deaths of her mother and their friends, she would be confined to an institution for a period until she was deemed 'sane' enough to confront the seemingly inexplicable occurrences. This was essentially the decision her father had made for her, in the hope that she would receive the necessary assistance. It wasn't so much the tarnished reputation she would endure afterward that brought tears to her eyes; it was the unexpected choice her father made for her that fateful night when she had anticipated his support.
