Appearance: Shruikan is a titanic sized dragon, easily the size of a small mountain or able to block out the sun from a high distance. He is a massive black dragon whose scales reflect much like onyx gemstone or obsidian, broken up by ivory white spikes down his spine, cheeks, and tail and similar colored horns. These horns are slightly curved towards his face at the ends and his wings are leathery and bat-like with ivory white do-claws. The most striking aspect aside from his size are his pale blue-white eyes, said to be the color of mountain glaciers.

Unpredictable Magical influence-As a dragon from Alagaesia, Shruikan already has vast magical potential but the most unusual aspect is that those of his kind can affect their environment in unpredictable ways, whether for the best or worst of intentions. Though the dragons themselves do not fully understand this, such times tend to happen in cases of deep emotion.
Fire Breathing-Like any dragon, Shruikan can breathe fire, his flames being jet-black to dark gray in color and are capable of melting solid stone to a certain extent.
Telepathy-Shruikan is able to speak with others via his thoughts, being able to naturally connect with another as his main way of communication. Usually, this involves images, thoughts, and "touches" between other people. Though, this extends to being able to attack others' mind or putting up a mental defense of his own.
Dark Star link-Upon being taken to Median, Shruikan came in contact with the shadow-like entity known as the Dark Star that took over his body and assimilated him into it. Now, he acts as its conduit, having his twisted mind whole again but is more or less the "voice" of this entity and better directs the hive mind in this dimension sometimes taking on a liquid like shadow state.
Physical Abilities:
Shruikan’s most obvious features are his incredibly durable scales and sturdy, muscular body offering him a great deal of strength. His claws and horns can also do a great deal of damage when applied with sufficient force, the latter of which is reinforced to take powerful impacts like that of a bull or ram. Additionally, he is quite masterful in aerial combat and flight thanks to his wings, as well as can naturally blend into dark environments thanks to his dark scales. With being a dragon, Shruikan has naturally heightened senses, though black colors are more distinct in his vision.
Weaknesses:
Shruikan's main weakness is his massive size; even though it makes offers him some advantage he is far slower in movement especially in enclosed areas and makes him limited to more open spaces.
While his scales area incredibly durable, his underbelly and wings are still weaker and vulnerable to damage.
Though Shruikan has vast magical abilities, he has little to no control over them and thus will never know how the environment will be affected even with the Dark Star entity bonded to him.
Though he is bonded to the Dark Star, Shruikan likewise has very limited control of the entity. Rather, it more so controls him and uses him like a conduit to direct its powers and presence more easily.
Shruikan may also not be as fractured in his mind as he once was, but he is still psychotic and unpredictable, facing severe mood swings and may lash out which can be used against him.

Personality: Shruikan is a twisted and broken individual, having his mind altered and twisted from Galbatorix. This has made him psychotic and bitter, angered by his years of solitude and loss of his original rider who was murdered in front of him. With the years, he has become cruel, harsh, and cold, to the point he cares for nothing but himself and was considered a lost cause to save. Unfortunately, he is. An unsaveable soul full of darkness and chaos, and has become sadistic and worried for his own survival, nothing more.
History:
When Galbatorix's dragon, Jarnunvösk, was killed by Urgals, Galbatorix traveled back to the Dragon Riders' stronghold in Ilirea, where he was brought before the Council of Elders. He demanded another dragon and the desperation of his request revealed that he was insane. He was denied his hope and to exact revenge, he formulated a plan to steal a dragon hatchling.With the help of Morzan, Galbatorix stole Shruikan after he murdered his true rider. Galbatorix then named the dragon Shruikan, a perversion of the usual custom, as dragons normally opted to choose their own names when they were old enough to understand this concept. He twisted the young dragon's mind with powerful Dark magic, so that Shruikan would serve as Galbatorix's new dragon. Galbatorix used Magic to artificially speed up Shruikan's growth, making him gigantic in size. The bond between Galbatorix and Shruikan was a mangled and corrupted version of the natural link between dragon and Rider, which gave Galbatorix control over Shruikan. The nature of the bond caused Shruikan to become an insane killing machine.
When Shruikan was fully grown, he was forced by Galbatorix and his servant, Morzan, to take down the Riders and kill his own brethren. Shruikan was spared in The Banishing of the Names because he was forced into servitude, unlike The Forsworn's dragons, who chose to help. By the time of the Varden's rebellion against Galbatorix, Shruikan was believed to be the only remaining dragon in all of Alagaësia.
Shruikan's first actual appearance was when the Varden were outside the gates of Urû'baen. Galbatorix used Shruikan to demoralize the Varden by revealing his immense size and power. He came from Urû'baen and then flew around, unleashing a jet of flames before flying back to Urû'baen. It was impossible to tell his size, but Eragon guessed that he could have been the biggest dragon he had ever seen, even exceeding Glaedr's height.Shruikan next appeared when the four warriors, Eragon, Arya, Saphira, and Elva confronted Galbatorix. He was mistaken for a large curtain as he lay behind the King's throne. When he awoke he made a challenging glance across the group and a challenging growl at Saphira personally, as his growl was much louder than hers.
When they broke free of Galbatorix's magic, Thorn attacked Shruikan, although he only succeeded in getting injured. However, the two dragons were able to get Shruikan's neck down almost to the ground with their combined weight and due to the fact that the room was too small for him to lift his neck up. As the two dragons did so, Shruikan breathed his black fire and almost succeeded in incinerating Arya, who had the Dauthdaert in her hands.
When they broke free of Galbatorix's magic, Thorn attacked Shruikan, although he only succeeded in getting injured. However, the two dragons were able to get Shruikan's neck down almost to the ground with their combined weight and due to the fact that the room was too small for him to lift his neck up. As the two dragons did so, Shruikan breathed his black fire and almost succeeded in incinerating Arya, who had the Dauthdaert in her hands.
But before the final blow could be dealt, an explosion of color filled the halls, separating the combatants and dragging the massive dragon to Meridian. One of the earliest arrivals in centuries to the central world of the Universe, Shruikan found himself in the presence of the mysterious Dark Star. Sensing the darkness within the reptile, the Dark Star merged with the twisted, broken creature, restoring the broken fractured mind for its own use, and since then Shruikan has become a loyal, assimilated pawn for the dark mass.
