As yet another seemingly random portal closed the sounds of screams and heavy footsteps could be heard as the larger Inner Ring of Median city was thrown into chaos! People ran down the street in large groups as a strange sound could be heard just behind them! A bright blue beam was freezing everything in its path creating a swath of destruction in its wake! The new arrival seemed less than thrilled about ending up in a world just after watching his beloved wife taken from him by a similar portal!
“Where is she?!” A mechanical voice yelled as a man wearing a thick suit similar to a deep-sea diver stormed down the once peaceful upper-class section of the city. The ice covered everything from the street to the small bistro tables and chairs set up along the sidewalks to anyone who may have been sitting in them!
“I know she is here! Where is she?!! One of you knows where my Nora is and will tell me or I shall change this city into a frozen graveyard!” A pair of red glowing eyes could be seen from within the suit as the madman continued his rampage! The beam originated from the weapon he held in his hand as he took aim! The beam fired a stream of sub zero partials causing whatever it hit to freeze solid!

Things had been quiet. All the monitors had shown the same things happening. Day in and day out, the humans went about their business. As it was Dick’s turn to watch the surveillance monitors, it was a task, he found a bit boring and hard to stay on and focused on the monitors. Sometimes he found a book or a comic to read while Dick was there. At least preventing him from falling asleep. He had noticed some humans, just like on earth here had there and then returned to their home. Going from work to home and then to the park or eating out at dinner. That was when something mysterious appeared on the cameras. In one of the deeper parts of the districts as Dick hadn’t known what this was. Something he hadn’t seen in a long while. “What the?” He asked. “Bot 51 zoom in on that one area. It’s the dead of summer, and why would there be… Ice?” He then dropped his book as he left the table, at least with a note to be left behind by Bruce in case he wondered where the young man had wandered off to.
“Gone to the sector where there is ice. This looks bad. - Dick.” Dick had scribbled down on a piece of paper. The vigilante figured, usually, the bots would’ve taken care of it by now. But this was much worse. Dick tried his hardest to wrack his brain on who had used ice in his dimension. There was the Penguin, yes. However, he seemed like a lower villain that it wasn’t him. Then there was one more. There was Mr. Freeze. He couldn’t forget that guy as he attempted to turn Gotham into a frozen city.
Dick went to the lower parts of the dungeon. A motorcycle had been created for Dick by some of the bots and was parked waiting to be used. As he revved the engine back to life, he began to head out on the streets as he left Median castle behind. Soon the vigilante went deeper and deeper into the city. Dicknow donned on his Nightwing Costume. Finally, he reached the area where the ice. Something mysteriously appeared on camera as he parked his motorcycle.
Dick took his baton out, carefully with it in his hands. Not entirely sure what to expect. But then he spotted the man encased in ice. This guy looked very different than the one from his dimension. However, it didn’t matter. He aimed his bo staff carefully enough he could knock the man’s arm in another direction. “Hey! leave them alone!” He called out, not moving just yet. “I don’t know what you’re talking about, but you can’t go in blasting all these people! Half of them are innocent!” Dick said. The vigilante waited for the right moment. “Who or what are you talking about? Nora? I’ve never heard that name before. Maybe we can help?” Dick searched his memory. Nope, that name didn't ring a bell. While Dick might've made his first mistake of going alone. It was all he ever knew. Asking for help seemed foreign to him.

Median City was a far cry from Gotham. In terms of technology and size, it seemed about roughly the same, but when it came to crime…It was a far cry from what he was familiar with. It felt strange, boring even. And to think Terry would ever think patrol was boring was a strange thought. He always enjoyed patrols, because there was always something going on. But in Median? It was most often petty crime or criminals easily taken out.
So, when he heard screams from nearby, a part of Terry became excited at the prospect of real action. Besides, it also meant he was still saving lives right? Tilting his wings, Terry changed course and glided towards the new disturbance, suspecting a portal had opened and brought someone around that wasn’t in a peaceful mood. And the first thing he noticed when zooming in via his visor was ice. Well, that could be a problem. Kicking his jet boots into high gear, Terry moved over the roof tops, switching his vision to the infrared spectrum, spotting two bodies through the surfaces ahead, recognizing them both right away. One was undoubtedly Dick Grayson, seeming trying the usual peaceful approach Bruce instilled in all his proteges, and the coldest body of them all, Mister Freeze. There was no missing that diver like suit he wore to live and use his powers. But the last the young Batman had seen him Fries had been in a full body again, lost to a collapsed building with knowing he would not remain in this world for long.
Switching off his boots and infrared vision, Terry allowed his momentum to carry into a more quiet glide, not wanting to alert this foe to his presence. “{May I advise maybe a peaceful approach be used last Dick? This guy isn’t exactly one for reasoning in a rampaging state like this.}” The young hero patched into his teammate over the communication system within his suit, activating the built-in lasers in his arms, set to a low power so as to not entirely harm Freeze. Just enough to maybe get his attention.
“Time to turn up the heat on this situation.” Terry finally came to the spot, aiming his weapons to fire two lasers right for the man’s back, trying to draw his attention towards the two heroes and not innocent bystanders. “Hey Fries! What’s got your cables crossed, eh? Don’t you have a wife to cure or something?l Terry called as he dropped down behind Mister Freeze in the street, keeping his lasers ready and not quite caring to know exactly why Freeze was on this rampage in the first place.

In spite of the overall calmness of this world, Bruce had not allowed himself to rest a day since he got here. While a small part of him enjoyed the calm nature of this world, an even larger part of him knew that the sweet sense of calm would not last. He, with the aid of his new allies, had begun to build a series of bat-drone, complete with cameras that monitored the nearby residences and alerted them in the event of any danger. So far the system had worked like a charm. He often stayed up late at night, watching the comings and goings of the locals, jumping into action once the situation called for it. Tilting his head to the side he felt a satisfying pop as the tension in his muscles eased a bit, silently he briskly walked to the surveillance room. "Did anything happen while I was gone, Dick? Dick?"
Being greeted with an empty room unsettled the Bat. Making his way over to the monitors he picked up a small note left behind by his protege. Gone to the sector where there is ice. This looks bad. - Dick. The Dark Knight furrowed his brow as he looked to the monitor, a wash of blue and white ice seemed to cover a large portion of the uptown. There's only one villain I know of that's capable of causing this kind of large-scale destruction. His eyes narrowed as he grimaced a bit. "Fries." He said in a low voice as he dashed out of the office. "Dick, I just got your message. I'm on my way. Keep him busy." He commed Nightwing as he ran to the dungeon to retrieve his bat-cycle.
He sped through the Median City, taking a sharp turn towards the upper ring. Once he neared the area he came to a screeching halt. Better go on foot from here. I might need the element of surprise. Raising his arm he grappled onto one of the nearby rooftops. Standing on top of the building's edge he could see some of the destruction that Freeze had caused. He could see Nightwing confronting him. And he could see another person entirely, clad in a black suit gliding to a stop in the plaza. Gritting his teeth he dashed forward onto the next roof, and then the next until he came to the main plaza of the inner ring.
Jumping down he grabbed the edges of his cape, spreading it out to act as a parachute of sorts, casting a bat-shaped shadow on the ground.
"Victor." He called out to freeze as he stood to his full height, his cape draped around his shoulders. He had known Fries for years and battled him a majority of that time. If this Freeze was anything like the one in his world, then he had his sympathies. There had always been something sympathetic about Freeze. Maybe it was because he related to the loss. Maybe it was because he could've become him had the stars aligned for it.
"Nora isn't here. This isn't Gotham. We're in a different world, as far as we know she isn't here." Raising his hands as a show of goodwill. "Calm down. We can figure this out, Fries."

“Where is she?!” A robotic voice yelled as another blast hit the side of the building! The windows shattered as ice crawled up the side of the stone structure causing it to crack as parts fell only to shatter on the ground like glass! The man in the cryosuit then paused hearing an engine as his head shifted from side to side from within the frost-covered globe. Then a sudden hit and his blast were sent into another direction hitting a nearby fountain freeing the water upward into sharp spikes in an instant resembling abstract art! “RRrr!!” Shifting his weight he saw what looked like an older version of ..Robin?
“What is this!?!” Another force then hit his back as he was sent stumbling forward! The shot caused steam as the hot laser met a freezing cold surface! Turning he saw the visage of an all black Batman wearing a red symbol. Who was this now? Was the Batman recruiting even more into this little extended family? Facing them both he kept his weapon at the ready.
“I do not care how many bat lackeys the Dark Knight throws at me! If you are keeping away from my Nora, I will turn this entire city into a frozen wasteland!” It was then a shadow fell over the frozen road in the shape of something very familiar! Turning his body to face the source of the shadow his cold eyes narrowed behind the red glowing goggles.
“Batman….” Freeze said, his very words cold enough to chill the air coming from the vents in the sides of his helmet. As Batman went on about some atrocious idea that this was some alien world Victor began to doubt the Bat’s senses. But given the fact that this city defiantly not Gotham only proves that he was abducted and so was Nora..and the Bat was responsible!
“I was content to be left alone with my beloved for all eternity. Every day I come closer to a cure. But no one ever leaves me be! I saw her cryotube pulled out of my grasp in front of my very eyes…” His voice dropped an octave making the electronic reverberation even more apparent. “Only to be brought here as well. But my Nora is nowhere to be found, and in her place, I find you…” A high-pitched sound was heard as his weapon charged!
“You will take me to Nora now!” Freeze yelled raising his weapon straight for the Batman and fired!

"Roger, I will keep him busy." Eventually, the other bat heroes began to show up as Nightwing got his message across to the others. At least, he got his point across. He was still on edge about Fries, as they gave him his chance to speak. “Fine, we’ll talk, only for as long as he needs it,” Dick said. The young hero didn’t seem to trust Mr. Freeze in the slightest. He knew Terry had a good point. But he was just like every other villain that he had encountered. This was only going to be a moment, he told himself.
Nightwing had feared of this. Mr. Freeze is not listening. The talking attempt had failed. Even if Batman had been the honest one. Nightwing saw no weapons, at least not at first. He muttered something under his breath. If this was the case. Nora is here somewhere on Median, but he had no idea where. She could’ve been taken anywhere. Well, it’d be a difficult task canvasing the entire new world. But they’d certainly know about it if she was in this city with the bots everywhere and on patrol. Now it was plan B. Nightwing was tired of waiting around. He would freeze all of Median City, and it’d take them days to thaw out. “Mr. Freeze, how blind can you be? Batman gave you an opportunity peacefully to find your wife, and all you do is take it by force!? Most of the people here are innocent and you come blasting through like it's Gotham and Batman is right about that one. It isn't. They've never heard of you nor can they defend themselves.” He asked. His eyes widened as he saw a jet of ice coming from the man.
“Batman! Look out!” He said as Dick knew where his loyalty lies. It was family first. Then enemies second. Using his bow staff to leap forward towards one of the buildings to get in front Batman. He did the next best thing. Landing with one hand on the concrete, the other with the bow staff, Nightwing deflected some of the ice beam, as it went forward, striking a building. The rest of it hit Dick in his arm as he felt the pain of it from hitting the concrete.
He stumbled and cried out as the blast had been unavoidable and suddenly became numbing. He couldn’t feel anything. “Ack!” He said as his arm was frozen solid, but he knew it was a matter of time before it would start melting. Nightwing had defended his guardian. He pretty much sacrificed his arm in the process. He had no idea to tell if it was broken or damaged. It was just numbing pain that you’d likely never forget. “S-S-stand down! You’re just like the Fries in my world, blasting everything in your path and not thinking things through.” Dick said, but he was already slowing down and weaker than the others. “And when we do give you an offer, you blast your way through. Peacefully.” He said as his body started to shiver from the cold Dick had no clue how long he’d be able to stand the cold as his body temperature would drop before he could get warm. "I-I don't suppose any of you have an ice pick?" He asked being serious this time around. If anything, Nightwing guessed he had sprained his arm in the blast.

This was one aspect of the job that frustrated Terry, even in his time. The rest of the Bat Family were all about peace and non-lethal action, about talking someone down no matter the situation. Total violence was a last resort. Even in his old age, it was something his father always emphasized but Terry himself did not always listen to.
Personal experiences of his own had taught him that much.
“Grrr, when will you learn some people can’t be reasoned with old man.” Terry muttered to himself, body poised to act if he had to. But, he had no time to leap into action as Fries turned his full attention on Bruce, seeming convinced Nora, his wife, was here in the city. What worse timing this had been. Maybe Terry spoke too soon about things being boring there on Median…’Insert foot into mouth.’ He told himself, eyes widening as Dick took the full force of Victor’s ice beam, deflecting the worse of it but still ending up partly covered in ice. Hopefully a non-fatal shot. A million concerns raced through the younger Batman’s mind, the worse case being the loss of limb and Nightwing being unable to help them properly in the future. That would definitely be a damage to the old ego.
“Alright! No more playing nice!” Terry charged forward, the lasers retracting back into his suit as electricity arched across his body. If talking didn’t accomplish anything, his way might get results instead, force for force. Freeze was far too gone in his own angered madness to see reason, willing to center all his rage on one old enemy. Well, not while he was around! “Why don’t you shut down for a little while!” The young man leapt forward, tackling Freeze from behind as he delivered a powerful shock to the suit. Terry cared little if he had amped up the power too much for Freeze’s suit, or that it might short circuit something vital keeping the man alive. He was a danger to innocents and his teammates, a danger to himself. Something needed to be done even if it was excessive or drastic. Terry would cross that line, he had no qualms in harming someone or risking their life if it meant the safety of others.
Better to incapacitate than lose too many at risk.

As Mr. Freeze aimed his ray at the Dark Knight his eyes narrowed, his hand flying to his belt for an explosive Batarang. Nothing deadly of course, just something to knock away the man's aim and disorient him just a bit. Just he pulled his arm back to launch his weapon his protege stepped between them, deflecting the beam off to the side. The beam crashed against a nearby wall, sending spikes of ice climbing up the building's side. The locals cried out and scattered as they scrambled for their lives.
"GRAYSON!" He called out as he bent down to his adopted son's side. This may not have been his Robin, but the two were family no matter water. Batman scanned over the younger man's frozen arm. Ice is covering his entire arm, at this rate, it'll only take ten minutes or so until the hypothermia sets in. He thought grimly as he sifted through his belt for a useful tool, keeping an eye on Fries. "Hold on, Nightwing. I've got you." He reassured the man as he pulled out his thermoregulator. It was a device he used specifically to fight Fries in his own world. Carefully he placed the small black device over the ice. It clamped onto the ice-covered limb and a small red light sprang to life.
"That'll thaw the ice and hopefully save that arm." He explained as he prepared to get back into the fight. "Sit tight." He gave Nightwing a subtle nod of thanks. There were no words to express how thankful he was for his extended family.
Dashing for Fries he caught sight of the second bat-clad man. This one he couldn't recognize. Though the man did hold a similar brashness to the second Robin. Watching the man's quick speed and skill it was evident that he had been trained for this, perhaps for years. A number of possibilities passed through his mind. Was this another version of Grayson? Was this another version of himself?
Swiftly he tossed a few smoke bombs at Fries's feet as the younger man attacked Fries from behind. The smoke may have obscured his view but the sparks of electricity that shot from behind the smoke were enough to make his eyes widen. Grabbing the younger man by the scruff of the neck he pulled him back.
"That's enough! You'll kill him if you go any farther." He shouted as he narrowed his eyes at the man. He turned his gaze back to the likely injured Freeze. A shock like that could most definitely destroy the intricate technology keeping the man alive. Silently he stepped up to Freeze, gripping him by the front of his cryo suit.
"You finally chilled out enough to deal with this like adults? Or do I need to let him go at you again?"
