It was the dull pain in the back of his head that jolted him awake first. Groggily he opened his eyes once, greeted with a dark night sky. For a brief moment, he believed he was back in Gotham. Not the Gotham he had grown to know in the previous world, but his original Gotham. The tall buildings surrounding him showcased the gothic architecture he had grown used to. Though something felt horribly off. The buildings seemed a bit too. . . medieval. His eyes snapping open he shot up to find himself in the middle of a town square of sorts. Everything glistened with the subtle drizzle of rain. No. No! This can't be happening again. Shutting his eyes he could feel his blood begin to boil. He had had everything. He had Arkham to himself, nearly all of Gotham kneeling before him. And now? Nothing.
Opening his pale, cold eyes he stood to his feet. He looked to the large castle in the distance. He could feel the eyes of the denizens of this city watching him closely. Perhaps not all is lost. I made something of myself once. Perhaps I can do it again.
"Very well, world. Do your worst."

Nightwing had gone to Chiroptera city to pick up some supplies for Median Castle, and it would take a couple of days to get out and come back. He knew Median castle needed decent supplies of food, even medical equipment if they were going to live in the castle, for long periods. He had just brought his backpack and bicycle with him as he drove through that side of Median. Dick arrived, he was tired, and his feet ached from being on the motorcycle all that long. He found a place to stop and eat and had a bit of food. The city here felt different than Median City. He hadn't lived here before. So the streets and places were all new as he was going to have to relearn it and navigate this city.
As he sat and watched the town, he noticed how medieval it looked there, the astonishment of how time seemed to pass on, and the buildings looked old. That was when his blue eyes looked towards the sky as he saw a portal open up. Dumping someone into it. “Looks like today is going to get interesting.” Dick said. Richard slipped into a back alleyway. Dick put on his Kevlar suit, with the blue wings on it. Finally, the mask to add to it.
And then he dashed out to where the portal was.
He stepped closer and closer, taking out his bo-staff a bit silently, as he approached the person who had come in from another world. Nightwing approached as his foot clacked against a rock and heard the man speak up. That was when he realized he had a large skull… Something like that would’ve fit well into his time of Gotham. He couldn’t help but feel that this person looked familiar. But not from his dimension. “Who are you? Looks like you are a newcomer in these parts.” Nightwing said. “I’m not going to hurt you haven’t given me a reason to yet.” He said. Dick held his ground. “My name is Nightwing," Dick responded. "You have fallen through a portal and ended up in Median.”

The disfigured man stopped upon hearing a voice call out to him, a voice that held some form of vague similarity. Furrowing his brow he turned around to face the voice, only to be greeted by the sight of one of the Bat's children. "Nightwing." He said in a raspy low voice as he gazed at the man. He knew it wasn't his Nightwing, the chances alone were astronomical, not to mention his Nightwing would've recognized his tall gaunt frame right away. "If it isn't Batman's most prosperous student." He had never liked the first Robin, precisely because he had been too good. He lacked the brash and reckless nature of Jason Todd, the manipulability of Batgirl, or the inexperience and incompetence of the third Robin. He had been a perfect student of the Batman in every way. There was a reason the first Robin became a solo success as Nightwing.
"My you've grown. Little boy blunder. No longer under daddy's cape." He said in a teasing tone as he tried to worm his way under the young man's skin. "You don't recognize me, Robin?" He said with a grin as he lifted his clawed glove to his face. "Do you not have a master of fear in your world?" He pried as he watched the young man closely. He had come close to breaking Batman once, he could surely break his protege.
"I do have some questions for you, Robin. Where am I? This isn't my world nor the one I fell into last time. And what is this," he gazed around the dark gloomy city around them. "marvelously dark place? I must say, it gives Gotham a run for its money in gloom." He gazed at a few of the locals as they passed by, their terrified eyes caused his lips to curl into a lopsided grin. "And fear."
"So tell me, where is your master, Robin? Is he here with you? Or is the poor little boy blunder all on his own tonight?" If there was one thing Crane was good at, it was getting into the heads of his opponents. He wasn't a fool. He knew he couldn't fight Nightwing head-on, he wasn't Bane or Deathstroke. But if he could just goad the young hero into making a mistake...

Nightwing barely moved. Dick didn't even flinch, and he heard the raspy voice. It started to come to him. He studied the disfigured man’s face. Well, there had a lot going on in his world. That was when he knew that he couldn’t remember them all. But how could he forget him? Scarecrow. Scarecrow had likely joined the Joker’s calling of attacking Gotham. He recalled his own Batman’s words, of not trusting a soul. Dick barely even trusted Scarecrow. Richard didn’t move his stance. he could’ve reacted in an instant if he had to. But for now, he appeared to want to talk. Scarecrow wanted answers. Unlike, Freeze, he wasn’t going to attack him right away. His blue eyes were fixed on the mysterious new arrival.
Well, then there came the taunting.
“The name’s Nightwing. I left Robin a long time ago.” Dick responded. He better use that name from now on. He'd like to forget it.
“Master of fear? I haven't seen him in a long time. The main one is the Joker, and he took over Gotham. If it weren’t for his Joker gas, Gotham might still be around today. If the gas didn’t kill you outright, you likely joined the Joker.” Richard explained. The humans were barely alive. Yet no mind of their own. Even someone like you wouldn’t have survived something like that. Dick didn't even want to think about what happened to his dimension. It was an apocalyptical wasteland that no one deserved to be in. Even in Gotham there had been lawlessness and crime that was all over the place. However, this place, Median was much worse. “There is a Batman here, but he isn’t the one that I knew. Who kept me at arm’s length but wanted me to teach he died when I was young.” Nightwing said at least he had that much to tell Scarecrow of the mysterious fate. No one should live that way.
Dick figured he could at least respond and answer Scarecrow's answers. He might be a villain. But he was also human. “This place is called Median, and it is probably worse than Gotham. The heroes and I set up an outpost. Where we could watch and monitor the city if they need help. But seeing you here is troubling. The portals don't seem to be choosey on who is coming here.” Nightwing admitted. However, Scarecrow did have a good point. This place was miserable. It was pretty sad going down to the lower levels of it. The castle felt like a haven. He gave a huff. He felt the taunts returning once more like a threat trying to crawl under his skin. Nightwing had worked best alone, and that had been the case since he was young and discovered that.
“I'm sorry to disappoint you, Scarecrow, but it’s just me this time. I will say this once and once only. If I catch you doing anything funny or criminal acts, I will not hesitate to put you in jail.” Nightwing said. Richard sounded very serious about it, and he wasn't joking. Nightwing knew that his fears were simple enough. He was afraid of losing everyone, fear of disappointing Batman or letting him down. Or even the worst part, fear of being left alone.
