When they played the professor's translation of the book, it unleashed a horde of horrors. Throughout the night, they fought against their possessed friends, a giant molesting tree, and a demon that took over Ash's hand. Ash eventually thought he had won, but when a portal opened to retrieve the book, he was transported to the dark ages. To return home, Ash had to find and secure the Necronomicon by reciting the incantation and freeing the book from the cemetery. However, after forgetting the words, he unwittingly released the undead armies upon the world.
After successfully defeating the Deadite army, he was sent back to his own time. However, the people of Elk Grove accused him of being responsible for the deaths of his sister and friends.
