A young girl, about seventeen years old, stood frozen in place with her arms and legs splayed out, wearing a shell-shocked expression on her face as her eyes widened to their maximum extent. "What?" she half-laughed, her voice tinged with a startling wheeze before erupting into a loud exclamation, "What the fuck!" The sound reverberated like thunder through the forest.
The trees quivered, the animals scattered, and she was almost certain something had let out a foul wind nearby. In no mood for anything, she had been running with Kelly and Pablo just moments before when she found herself abruptly in the heart of the wilderness. She had faced a deadite infestation, lost her father months ago, and seemed less desensitized to her losses compared to her newfound family. Despite the old Williams bloodline, she was, after all, just a kid. Everything affected her a great deal, so anyone with a brain and a heart could understand why the poor thing was covered in tears and snot. She looked like an unhappy, scrawny leaf.
Tears welled up in her gaze, reflecting a pitiful blend of sadness and frustration. Her lightly tanned face glistened with tears, and her lips trembled as she tightly shut her eyes. "I want to go home…" she whimpered, realizing that home wasn't a fixed place but the people she had come to cherish, all now gone. This place was not her home; it was life giving her the bird. Well, she was going to flip it right back!
She clenched her hands into tight fists and repeatedly kicked at the dirt in front of her, expressing her frustrations through grunts. Her anger was relentless, yet she felt utterly helpless, unable to take any effective action other than to punish whatever this was. But then…
Her gaze settled on the necklace adorning her neck, triggering memories of her father's words. It was one of those rare occasions when he spoke with utmost seriousness, and she cherished those moments dearly. He considered the necklace a symbol of good luck, so maybe she should place her trust in it as well. As she sniffled, she absently played with the aged jewelry. While she found it beautiful, a couple of survivors had openly declared it the ugliest thing they had ever laid eyes on.
Something had to give.

While Brady was laboring in the hot and humid jungle of an unknown world, high above her, a space station remained motionless in orbit. A man with four mechanical arms stationed at the main control panel was scrutinizing a readout of lines that intersected the planet below. These lines were not merely lines, but rather a complex network of portals linked to each other by a mysterious power source that he had yet to entirely comprehend. These portals were stone arches that had no apparent function until a few months prior, when the space station gained access to what is now known as the Sundial, a monolith located at the center of an extensive desert directly below the space station. Since their inception, the arches have served as a means of rapid transportation across the globe, enabling individuals to traverse entire continents in a matter of moments. However, certain arches are currently inaccessible, possibly due to the destruction of said arches or portal blockages. The station's computer identified a number of inactive arches, which are indicated by small red dots on a readout. Of particular interest is a green flashing dot in the jungle, where arches are few and far between. This dot has drawn Otto's attention as he studied it. "Interesting," Otto said to his actuators as they lifted him up from the console and carried him towards the door. He was headed towards the habitation ring of the station and stopped at the door where one of his dear friends was staying for a couple of days. He reached up and hit the door chime. “Nancy?” He asked. “I have a task to do on the surface. If you are ready I can escort you down to the teleport room and take you to the arch near your dwelling while I continue on.” He asked as he waited for her to answer.

"Oh, God, I look sixty years old," she sighed, touching the side of her face with her fingertips and tracing a faint smile line that had developed over time. Not even dyeing her gray streak seemed to help. Then she noticed something else, but this detail didn’t quite shock her, as her once thin brows were starting to regain their thickness again, and she knew she would have to pluck them soon. She had just been incredibly lazy. No tweezer or slab of wax in the world could defeat such bountiful roots.
She didn’t dwell on it for long, swiftly dabbing perfume oil onto the inner part of her pale wrists and behind her ears. After tucking the small vial back into her purse, she lightly preened, smoothing out any imperfections in her appearance. Next, she slipped on the dark brown vest that elegantly complemented her blue blouse and brown pants, deciding on a casual look for the day. Just as quickly as she patched herself together, she prepared a quick drink and froze when the chime was heard.
Nancy opened the door promptly, not wanting to keep him waiting. He had generously shared his time with her, wholeheartedly welcoming her back into his life. During her clumsier times in Elusion, he had been the one to make her feel at home.
As she saw him suspended in the air by his actuators, if he still was, she gazed up innocently, holding not just one but two freshly brewed cups of coffee. She offered one to him, a real visage she could never quite get used to, a sight so extraordinary and bizarre. He truly was a remarkable man, with an exquisite mind and layer of wisdom beneath his extreme confidence.
"Thank you," she responded with a sleepy laugh. "But are you absolutely sure you won't join me for a quick coffee break? It might do you some good." Nancy's tone bordered on a gentle order as she almost implored him to set aside his work and spare just the last twenty minutes to be with her. He sincerely needed to relax, something he was terribly bad at. He must have been searching for the others so desperately, particularly Donna— she imagined— and she dearly wished he could have everything now.
Little did Nancy know, there was a little girl out there, quite lost.

"Uggghhhhhhhh!" Brandy exclaimed, her voice filled with absolute hate as she hurried past the towering trees and the persistent mosquitoes, which she fervently swatted at in a frenzy. Her delicate skin bore the brunt of her frantic slaps, as she unwittingly dispatched a snake with a swift kick, sending the danger noodle flying.
She tried so hard to be positive, but in what ungodly situation like this could she find a sliver of hope? She stomped rebelliously forth and lowered her head, still very much frustrated and irritated, but annoyed all the same as she continued to blubber and whimper. “This is so dumb! Oh my freakin’ god!” she complained shrilly, positively dragging herself through the big bad jungle. No, actually, things could get worse. She knew humans could come back as nasty deadites, but could animals do the same? She slapped a hand over her mouth and blinked.
“That’d be a real kick in the ass.” She gasped, now horrified, bursting into a manic run as she let out yet another scream. “'Kelly! Pablo! Quit playing around! Get me back with your brujo magic. I'm stuck here in the middle of nowhere! This is some freaky, twisted stuff! It’s hot and there’s no Internet…”
