''We'll be fine. Just as long as we're together,'' Amos muttered. His eyes widened for a few seconds. ''Stronger? Me? In this weak body?''
Amos wondered if his alien form was capable of getting sick. If he remained vulnerable to extreme heat and x-rays... He didn't want to find out.
''Maybe our conversation is letting me disregard the heat. It would explain a lot.'' Amos shrugged his shoulders. He smiled another time. ''Unity is good for everyone,'' he said. There was a nod from him.

"I do not plan on leaving. At least for the time being," Lucius replied. He raised an eyebrow. "It is a possibility."
People often underestimated their strength, after all. However, it was not something he did.
"That is possible, I suppose. Indeed." Lucius searched for more ingredients. It wouldn't be long before he'd have what he needed."So is independence," he pointed out. Relying on other people too much was not beneficial.

Amos smiled as soon as Lucius mentioned not departing. So they were absolute unity? It was fine with Amos. The heat currently wasn't focused on. Amos no longer swayed. At least for the moment.
Another frown materialized.
''I was weaker when I was alone. The heat could have killed me. I'm not strong in solitude at all. As for being independent? I wandered aimlessly without my master when I first appeared in this world. I had no idea where I was.'' He paused.
''Again, my master gave me a sense of purpose. Since he's no longer with me... Well, I'll always be about unity. Strength in numbers remains the same. At least to me. Was I ever independent? Well, no. At least not until I came here.''

"I see. It could have, but it didn't. I would beg to differ. Hmm. But not anymore. There are resources to help you survive alone." He raised an eyebrow.
"You can find your own purpose here. I can see that. Sometimes strength can be found alone. I see."

''I'm certain the heat would have caused my demise sooner or later.'' His eyes were wide with confusion for a moment. ''Resources to survive alone? What sorts of resources?'' Amos frowned again. He shrugged his shoulders.
''Unity remains my purpose. If I can locate others, I'll be fine. Safe with them. My other purpose is to always preach. Strength can be found alone?'' He bit his lip.
''I suppose I could seek shelter on my own.''
Amos looked around when he thought he heard footsteps.
''Animals?''
Were the creatures going to be a good form of unity or a group willing to attack them?
''How familiar are you with the wildlife here?''

"Perhaps, although you do not seem that weak." He raised an eyebrow. "Of course. Things such as accommodation and money." After all, those were the necessary things new arrivals needed. He would have thought the preacher would have sought help by now.
"Hmmm. There are others, but probably not in this jungle. I see. Of course." He nodded.
"There is plenty of places to seek shelter."
Lucius tensed at the sudden noise and his hand went to the handle of his wand.
"I am not certain."
He pulled his wand out of his cane as a precaution.
"I am somewhat familiar, although I do not frequent this place."

Bewilderment caused the preacher's eyes to widen a bit. ''Well, I'm vulnerable to physical attacks when I'm a man.'' Thankfully there weren't any things related to x-rays around. At least not to his knowledge. Then there was his habit of underestimating enemies. Assuming that they were weak near him. Right before he was attacked.
''I see about money and accommodations.''
Amos looked around and frowned for a moment.
''I don't see any sorts of shelter.''
Amos thought there were other footsteps.
A small dark form ran by.
Amos had no idea what it was.

The wizard nodded at Amos' words. "I believe that is the case for most people." Although, Animagi were vulnerable in their animal forms as well. Of course, his cane could protect him from spells and he was more than capable of dealing with foes. Providing they didn't have the element of surprise and physically attack him.
"Indeed."
Lucius raised an eyebrow. "I wasn't saying there was any here, but there are places in the towns here."
He held his wand at the ready as someone or something ran past.

''I just don't like assuming my other form. Too painful for me,'' Amos muttered. If Amos was forced to do so? From anything falling on a friend? One companion in another form of danger? So be it.
''Hopefully we'll find the towns as soon as possible.''
The dark figure ran by again. Was it going to be a friendly form or something eager to attack them? Amos had no idea. He wasn't even sure if he wanted to know.
''Hopefully the wand is powerful enough to protect us.''

"I see. Understandable," Lucius replied. Most Animagi only assumed their animal forms when necessary, after all.
"Possibly, or a fast travel portal."
Lucius glanced around as the dark figure ran past again.
"I am an accomplished wizard, so I believe my magic will be effective against those that would cause harm."

''If it was an extreme situation, then yes. I will willingly assume my alien form.'' Amos had to be a bit more careful with his identity. Something he was always careless about. At least he currently didn't reveal long teeth. The usual tentacles.
''A fast travel portal would be wonderful.''
As for magic protecting them from anything wishing to harm them?
The form paused and focused ahead. Amos had no idea what it was. ''Maybe it's a bit more curious than aggressive. It's not attacking us. Yet.'' Amos couldn't underestimate it. Another bad habit.

"That is understandable. Hmm." It wasn't his place to force someone to transform. Unless they were being interrogated and had something to hide.
"Indeed, there should be one in this jungle somewhere."
Lucius eyed the figure warily. "I hope that is the case. Indeed. However, one can never be to careful."

''If the jungle wasn't so humid, then I wouldn't mind being in one. I just remember farms in Smallville. Maybe a few stores and restaurants. One revival tent. A church. I've certainly never been in a tavern before.''
Amos frowned another time.
''Then again, I don't exactly trust portals. Not after the last one tossed me into this world and I got hurt.''
Amos then remembered the form appearing. ''Oh. Right.'' The creature approaching them. From curiosity? To attack? He had no idea.

"I suppose it is rather uncomfortable. Up until recently, of course."
Lucius nodded at the comment regarding portals.
"That is understandable. However, I doubt these portals work in quite the same way."
He continued to keep his wand and grey eyes on the creature approaching them.

Amos began to wonder about how many portals there were total in the current world. A handful? More than a handful? He was never certain. Perhaps some things were better never knowing. Maybe.
''Hopefully the portals don't injure people.''
Amos shuddered after he remembered how he first appeared. How injured he was.
''At least my injuries are gone. I'm not swaying from the heat. At least not at the moment.'' Amos attempted to smile.
Another frown formed as soon as his eyes were on the creature again.
''Oh. Right. Our friend.''
Confusion appeared in the preacher's eyes as soon as the creature... purred? If he remembered correctly, cats usually purred when they were content.
